Hello, and welcome to my all-new online writer's hub! Pretty snazzy-looking, huh? And that's not all! Check out the URL in the address bar above. That's right - I've got my own domain now!
Okay, so it's not actually all-new. What you're currently looking at is a re-skinned and rejuvenated version of my Writer's Unblock blog. This is where the first major change is happening - from here on out, everything I share through Writer's Unblock will be an opinion piece related to the creative process in some way. I'm not going to use it to share creative work with you guys any more, mainly because the mix of different kinds of entries left things pretty poorly organised and difficult to keep track of. So now, you'll just be getting editorials on this page here.
You may have noticed that all the old Writer's Unblock entries have disappeared. There's a good reason for this, and it's definitely no cause to panic. For a start, nothing's actually been deleted - all the old entries have simply been archived and hidden from your view for now. Over the next couple of weeks I'll be revisiting all those old entries and reorganising them according to the new hub structure of this site. When that's done, everything will reappear, albeit not all in exactly the same place as before. Everything I've written that's best categorised as an opinion piece will still be here, under the Writer's Unblock header.
A lot of the other stuff will be shifted to all-new locations. I've set aside dedicated archives for both prose and poetry, so any short stories or song lyrics I've previously shared through Writer's Unblock will find a new home within those archives. All new creative work that I decide to share will be filed within these archives too. I realise that this will make any creative updates less immediately visible, but there are two ways round this. The first is a simple 'Recent Updates' widget, which occupies the top-right of the screen on every page of the hub and contains links to the five most recent additions to both the hub and my external blogs. The second is by Liking my writer's Facebook page - I post updates about everything I write there, so it's well worth following as a guide for when new content emerges.
Where are these new archives, you ask? If you check under the header at the top of this page, you'll see a series of buttons, each of which corresponds to a different archive. There's also a nifty direct link to my Giant Bomb blog, if you want to head there and check out my opinions on all the video games I've been playing recently. I also have a couple of other separate projects on the go which are likely to earn their own link buttons in the near future, so keep an eye out for new additions to that button bar in the coming months. It's all very exciting stuff!
I hope you're all as excited about this new online hub as I am. Hopefully it'll prove to be a more effective way of keeping my different styles and focuses of writing better organised. While there are unlikely to be many updates from me for the remainder of this month, I'm hoping to have some exciting news to share with you all in June. Until then, have fun navigating the new hub, and I'll see you around.
